JONAS RAWALT (aka "REWALT" ) who came to be· known only under the spelling RAWALT, was b. 1803, "Nov. 13, Northumberland County, Pa.80l Family Bible) d. 1882, Dec. 22, Fulton County, Ill. bur. Greenwood Cemetery, m. , March 23 in Clark ·Co. Ind. to DEIDA ROBBINS who was b. 1807, Jan. 1, North Carolina, d. 1878, Oct. 2 She was dau of James Robbins and Polly Fouts. Jonas and Deida had 10 children, eight of whoI Iived to maturity.
They went to Illinois in 1829. Jonas served in the Ill. Legislature as first representative from Fulton County, serving two terms during which the capital was in Vandalia. Jonas at age 57 was commissioned Major in the Seventh Illinois Cavalry, and, organized a Company. He served in the Civil War from Sep1 21, 1861 to 1863.
